Tidland has an opening for an energetic, self 
directed and mechanically capable Software 
Engineer to join our Controls Group. 

This position is expected to

Develop expert knowledge of slitting 
applications & potential solutions 
Support Sales on the technical & performance 
aspects during the quoting phase 
Be responsible for the specification, 
development, testing, deployment and support of 
software applications that are routinely 
customized to meet user requirements and project 
needs 
A Bachelor’s Degree & 3 years minimum relevant 
experience OR an Associate’s Degree & 5 years 
experience is required.

Principal Duties

Write and maintain high quality object-oriented 
Windows / Embedded Linux application code 
(MFC/C++/.NET) and documentation to fulfill 
project and customer requirements. Software 
involves user interface, motion control, I/O 
control, algorithm optimization, serial 
communication, and Ethernet communication 
On-site support and installation of automated 
control systems using electrical, mechanical, 
and software experience. Travel is required up 
to 15% 
In-house and on-site customer training and 
troubleshooting 
Interaction and coordination with marketing, 
sales, electrical, mechanical, production 
personnel and customers throughout the 
production cycle 
Support the development of new product offerings 
Skills and Knowledge

Excellent verbal and written communication 
skills 
Mechanical aptitude and electrical experience 
are required 
Understanding of PLC controller interfaces and 
ladder logic 
Troubleshooting skills with software and 
electrical components 
Experience using motion control and servo drive 
systems 
Ability to support older DOS based systems, 
Windows NT, Windows XP, Windows 7, and Linux. 
Able to manage multiple concurrent projects
