Your duties:
• Understand the technical requirements and 
scope of development projects, which can be 
market driven standard product projects or 
customer driven custom product projects.
• Establish and manage project schedules, taking 
into account development scope, budget 
constraints, resource limitations, schedule 
expectations from customers and marketing, and 
ensuring that projects are completed on-time.
• Establish and manage the development budgets, 
working with Product Management for standard 
products and Sales for custom products to define 
development costs and NRE, and ensuring that 
projects complete on-time and on-budget.
• Work with Purchasing and Supply Chain 
Management to ensure that product costs at 
volume are achieved.
• Ensure that project deliverables are provided 
on-time, for project plans, design 
documentation, test plans, prototypes and pre-
production units.
• Manage customer relationships, including 
meetings, conference calls, customer visits, 
written and verbal communications, to ensure 
customers are kept aware of development 
progress, status, and issues, such that 
expectations are appropriately set and met, and 
customers are satisfied with the effort and 
results of the team and company.
• Work with Supply Chain Management and Program 
Management to transition projects from 
development to production.
• Chair project meetings including internal team 
meetings, internal design reviews, customer 
meetings, and customer-attended design reviews.
• Help define and create development process and 
project management tools.
• Report to executive management on project 
status, including accomplishments, challenges, 
technical, schedule and financial performance.



Skills required:
• Engineering degree, preferably EE
• 7 or more years experience as design engineer, 
project engineer, or project lead
• 7 or more years experience managing 
development projects or engineering teams
• Solid understanding of hardware design, BIOS 
development, thermal design, DVT, prototyping, 
procurement, production testing, and 
transitioning products to volume production
• Solid understanding of embedded computer, 
human machine interface and wireless data 
product development and deployment.
• Solid understanding of display and touchscreen 
technology.
• Able to deal with multiple, fast-paced 
development projects simultaneously
• Able to manage multi-faceted development 
projects, typically including hardware, BIOS, 
thermal, and mechanical aspects, prototype 
procurement and evaluation, certifications, and 
pilot production
• Success managing globally geographically 
distributed development efforts
• Able to gently but firmly manage scope creep 
threats from engineers, customers, Sales and 
Marketing project stakeholders
• Success creating sophisticated, high quality, 
reliable, processor based wireless data and 
embedded computer products and transitioning 
them to production in volumes of several 
thousand per month
