Job Description

Our client is currently looking for a Senior Java Developer 
Consultant capable of
performing analysis, design, implementation, testing, maintenance 
and support tasks
with minimal supervision. In this role, you will assume 
responsibility for
interaction with other group members and departments, and as such, 
requires excellent
communication skills. This position requires the ability to work 
independently as
well as in collaboration with others to implement solutions.

In this role, you will assume responsibility for the following:
•Implementing, testing, maintaining and supporting software, based 
on technical
design specifications
•Preparing technical design specifications based on functional 
requirements and
analysis documents
•Reviewing functional requirements, analysis and design documents 
and providing feedback
•Assisting customer support with technical problems and questions
•Assisting other development staff
•Investigating software development tools
•Performing special assignments
•Participating in architecture and code reviews

Education & Training:
•B.S. in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or equivalent 
experience

Work Experience:
•5 years minimum experience in software engineering is required 
•Strong object-oriented analysis and design skills are required
•Experience with Java is required
•Experience implementing n-tiered, distributed systems across 
different
Hardware/Operating System platforms
•Experience with iterative, incremental software development 
processes
•Experience with complex software development projects through all 
phases of the
software development life cycle
•Familiarity with web-based application development technologies, 
such as Adobe Flex,
Hibernate, and Spring, is required.
•Experience with Web Services design and construction
•Understanding of database design and software to database interface 
programming
•Relational database experience with one or more of the following: 
Oracle, DB2, MS
SQL Server is required
•Strong SQL skills
•Experience with Java performance analysis and tuning is desired
•Familiarity with the Unified Modeling language (UML)

Specialized Knowledge & Skills: 
•Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
•Ability to quickly analyze, organize, and abstract large amounts of 
information and
to make decisions based on this analysis
•Awareness of business issues as they impact overall project plans
•Ability to influence and negotiate when faced with opposing views
