The qualified individual will be a significant contributor in the development of high performance solid state flash drives. They will directly contribute to and manage the hardware team tasked with the PCB design, development, verification and release of complex, high-speed enterprise class SSDs. The primary responsibility of this senior engineer will be the supervision of a hardware development team. This candidate should be well organized and capable of giving detailed, technical guidance verbally and in writing, understanding technical challenges involved in the creation of embedded systems, and have the ability to create detailed development schedules and coordinate the efforts of the various design teams. As a direct design contributor, complex systems design experience is a must, with exposure to schematic and PCB design, high-speed storage and memory protocols, hardware design validation, and signal and thermal analysis at the PCB level. Ideally, this individual will take part in establishing future product architecture and creating product definitions and design constraints, as well as establishing and improving the best practices and procedures for the hardware design department. Ongoing familiarity with upcoming storage protocols and standards is a requirement. Knowledge of the implementation of high speed serial protocols and DDR on PCBs and in products is the key to success. Experience with NAND flash and distributed DC power is highly desired. The successful candidate must be hands on and have a desire to stay up to date with and implement new technology on an ongoing basis. They must be able to solve complex problems and overcome technical challenges on a daily basis. The ability to interface comfortably with customers and vendors is a plus. Responsibilities: - Hardware engineering management - Establishing policies and provide detailed guidance - Product design definition and architecture - New product bring-up and debug -Hardware design validation - Mechanical integration - Component selection and justification - Product life-cycle management and release practices - Understanding of advanced, high-speed test equipment - Ability to provide training and demonstrations - Budget forecasting expericence Qualifications: - Working knowledge of various storage protocols (SATA/SAS/FC/PCIe) - Embedded system development and integration - Systems design, analysis and debug - Detailed knowledge of PCB development and debugging tools - High-speed PCB design experience - Extensive work with DDR and high speed memory interfaces - Troubleshooting techniques and application - Experience with NAND EEPROM a plus - Working knowledge of Orcad and Allegro a plus - BSEE/MSEE preferred Personal Attributes: - Solid product, team and time management skills - Ability to prioritize and manage several tasks at once - Must be detail oriented with good organization and analytical skills - Excellent communication skills - Ability to plan and execute work independently
