JOB SUMMARY Manages the production of aggregate, asphalt, and concrete to ensure timely and cost effective operations. Ensures proper and efficient utilization of all resources and equipment. Promotes SHE, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance programs. ESSENTIAL JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES 1. Manages plant operations for efficient and optimal production level, including scheduling of personnel and equipment. 2. Ensures all plant personnel are continuously trained in order to understand, promote, and follow Vulcan’s Safety, Health, and Environmental standards and meet the zero incident/zero loss goal. 3. Provides direction and training to production personnel on efficient processing methods for maximum profit margin, while meeting safety, quality control, and regulatory standards. 4. Mentors and coaches employees. Works with supervisor and HR to address personnel issues, implements steps in the progressive discipline policy. Identifies and develops high potential operations and management personnel. 5. Manages scheduling of fixed and mobile equipment maintenance programs. Ensures plant personnel are properly trained on maintenance standards, policies and procedures. 6. Coordinates between Sales and Operations to ensure proper balance between Production and inventory levels. Promotes a cooperative environment, working with the sales department to ensure optimum customer service. 7. Reviews daily and monthly production and financial reports. Makes adjustments as necessary to ensure cost efficient and profitable operations. 8. Develops and tracks the operating and capital budgets. Develops justification for unplanned items. Other duties may be assigned as required. Required Skills MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: High School diploma or its equivalent is required. An associate or a bachelor’s degree is highly preferred. Experience: Three (3) to five (5) years experience in mining and production of aggregates, asphalt, and/or concrete. Experience in quality control, plant safety, and environmental compliance required. Three (3) years of supervisory experience is required. License: A valid drivers license is required. First Aid/CPR, Forklift Certification, and MSHA Certification is required. Class B CDL and Weigh-master License are preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge in mining and production techniques and equipment, safety and environmental regulations (MSHA and OSHA), equipment application and operation, and material specifications. Knowledge of business and financial principles. Computer spreadsheet skills. Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills including conflict resolution. Ability to plan and manage effectively. Must be wiling to work irregular or long hours. Must be able to represent Vulcan in a professional manner to all customers, vendors, and internal personnel.
