Job Description: The Technical Writer for the Media Transition team will be responsible for all documentation needs for the end-to-end programs. The ideal candidate will have great communication skills, project management experience, experience working in Agile and Scrum teams, be extremely organized and follow through to ensure the delivery of critical project documentation deliverables on time. The ideal candidate would also have a strong aptitude and understanding of e-commerce and mobile content management, delivery, and billing systems and be conversant in the latest technology and industry practices. A background in software and systems development would be very helpful. The Technical Writer will be a senior member of the transition team that designs, coordinates, and creates technical documentation. This will include artifacts such as technical specifications, user manuals, statements of work, release notes, deployment instructions and guides, user guides, and support documentation. The Technical Writer may also be asked to oversee printing and publishing work. Although the Technical Writer has developed specialist knowledge in one area (technical writing), the expectation is that he/she can apply this knowledge and skills to a range of standard and non standard activities. The Technical Writer must be able to interpret the client needs (internal and external), assess the full requirements; and identify solutions to non-standard tasks and queries. The Technical Writer must be aware of internal and external business issues and best practices in own discipline and apply them to this role. This is particularly true in the area of software testing, hardware configurations and technical statements of work. The Technical Writer will be asked to interface with R&D Program teams, Services, Nokia IT, and external partners. Target audiences for the technical documents will include data center and networking personnel, system architects, program managers, financial analysts and project stakeholdersIndividual Portfolio 4-8 years of technical writing experience in a software vendor environment. Ability to adhere to a formal style guide and standardized templates Immediate working knowledge of RoboHelp, FrameMaker, Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat & Distiller, Visio, and a graphics editing program, such as Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro Experience writing API documentation Ability to use requirements and specifications documents to write documentation project plans, estimate effort, and develop structured content Write developer API guides and reference documentation for Web Services, Java, and SDKs Write installation, tuning, deployment, and administration guides for a managed service platform Experience with wireless communications (WAP and mobile applications) a big plus Ability to express complex business and technical concepts effectively to a variety of audiences Skilled at organizing information into clear, concise written form Strong working knowledge of editing, proofreading, spelling, grammar, and punctuation Proven ability to handle multiple projects within tight deadlines Ability to adapt and respond to change Ability to rapidly absorb technical information Effective organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact well and share knowledge/expertise with other individuals Strong written and verbal communication skills Self-motivated with a flexible, positive attitude that consistently exhibits of sense of teamwork Bachelor's degree in English or Technical Communication, or equivalent combination of education and related experience Membership in the Society for Technical Communication desired Experience with financial institutions, financial audits, and SOX compliance a big plus
